Fulfill your Ohio Physical Education requirements through Tang Soo Do.

High School Martial Arts Training

What is Ohio's Credit Flex?

Did you know that Ohio high school students don't have to take standard Physical Education classes at school? Under the Ohio Credit Flexibility Program, students can earn their required PE credits by participating in approved, structured physical activities outside of school hours.

Training at Big Iron Martial Arts qualifies as an excellent alternative. Instead of standard gym class, teenagers can spend their time learning highly practical Tang Soo Do self-defense, building real-world confidence, and improving their physical fitness in a supportive environment.

How We Fit In

We make the Credit Flex process as seamless as possible for both students and parents. Because we teach a structured, curriculum-based martial art, it easily aligns with state physical education standards.

  • Instructor Sign-Offs: Our head instructors will regularly review your progress and sign all necessary school documentation.
  • Goal Setting: We help students set physical fitness and technical goals, a common requirement for the school's Credit Flex application.

3 Steps to Get Your PE Credit

1. Talk to Your Counselor

Every district in Central Ohio has its own specific paperwork. Ask your high school guidance counselor for the "Credit Flexibility Application for Physical Education."

2. Bring Us the Forms

Bring your application to the dojang! Our instructors will help you fill out the curriculum plan, goal-setting sections, and provide the necessary signatures for school approval.

3. Train & Log Hours

Once approved, just show up and train hard. We will track your hours on the mat so you can submit your completed log at the end of the semester to claim your credit.
